BACKGROUND & APPROACH

A lifelong passion for animal wellbeing

Raised in the British countryside, Harriet grew up surrounded by animals, forming a strong connection with horses, cats, and dogs that inspired her career path. Shortly after turning 18, she spent two years travelling across Australia and Southeast Asia, working primarily on cattle and dairy farms. During this time, she gained hands-on experience mustering on horseback and preparing sports horses for pre-season polocrosse. It was in Australia that she first worked alongside veterinary physiotherapists, sparking a lifelong passion for animal movement, rehabilitation, and welfare.

Alongside her five-year degree, Harriet also studied, qualified and worked part time as a personal trainer, reflecting her deep commitment to health, fitness, and performance. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active in the gym, running, cycling, and playing golf, as well as unwinding with a good book or a movie night.

Harriet has broad clinical experience managing a variety of conditions across multiple species, including orthopaedic and neurological cases, post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic conditions, sports injuries, acute and chronic pain, age-related decline, and developmental issues in young animals. She is also a certified equine dry needling specialist, a canine hydrotherapist and is currently pursuing further qualifications in equine nutrition.

Taking a holistic and individualised approach to every case, Harriet works closely with veterinarians and animal owners to develop tailored treatment plans. Her focus is on relieving pain, restoring function, and supporting long-term health and wellbeing at every stage of an animal’s life.

BACKGROUND & APPROACH

A lifelong connection with animals

Originally from a farm in West Wales, Lucy grew up surrounded by horses and developed a love for sport from an early age. As a teenager, she competed for her country in athletics, cross-country running, and equestrian sports. Her own experiences with injury first sparked her interest in physiotherapy, inspiring her to pursue a career focused on movement, rehabilitation, and recovery.

Lucy went on to complete a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy before specialising further with a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy, graduating with a Master's graded at Distinction. Her experience competing in eventing in the UK alongside her horse, Jack, combined with the challenges and injuries experienced by her own horses over the years, strengthened her commitment to equine rehabilitation and developed a specialist interest that began more than a decade ago.

Lucy takes a holistic, individualised approach to every patient, drawing on her background in human physiotherapy, veterinary physiotherapy training, and extensive practical experience with horses. Her approach incorporates a range of therapeutic techniques, including acupuncture, where appropriate, to support recovery, improve function, and enhance performance. She takes pride in understanding each animal as an individual, recognising subtle changes in movement and behaviour, and continually assessing and adapting her treatment to meet each patient’s needs.

Building strong relationships with animals, their owners, and the wider support team is central to Lucy’s approach. She values collaboration, clear communication, and working at each patient’s pace, helping owners feel supported throughout the rehabilitation journey. Having practised in the UAE since June 2025, Lucy feels fortunate to work in such a rewarding profession and to see the positive difference physiotherapy can make to the comfort, recovery, and quality of life of the animals in her care.

Lucy is always happy to answer questions and discuss how veterinary physiotherapy may help your animal, so please feel free to get in touch.
